This is the spectacular Vale of York Hoard, found in northern England. The hoard was probably buried in the early 10th century by a Viking leader. It is amazingly well preserved as a lot of the smaller items like coins and jewellery were buried within the large silver-gilt bowl. This vessel was made in France, and there are objects in the hoard from as far away as Afghanistan, which shows the extent of trade in this period. This Viking Treasure is on display at Yorkshire Museum.
